The Big Apple

The Biggest-EST Apple Perch worked extremely well when I needed to build half a log for my chinchillas to sit on. They had a fake log that served the purpose, but I wanted something safe in case they began chewing it. Only real wood from Little Pals would do the job! I knew its logs were safe, free of small nails or staples. So, I set out to build half a log or a structure that resembled one and prayed my boys would use it. Not only did they sit on it but also bent down and took nibbles on occasion. In addition, they played hide and seek on it. To prevent the Biggest-EST Apple Perches from rolling on my chinchillas, I used double-ended as well as 5" screws. It seemed my boys liked the real structure better!

Little Pals was the first pet store I encountered apple logs. Apple sticks -- yes, but apple logs? These were safe, high-quality enrichment for my chinchilla. He loved his Big Apple. Every night he ground his teeth on it because rodent teeth never stop growing. The sound was not as loud as when he chewed a pumice rock. In a week, I replaced the log or visited Little Pals to replenish the stock.

He is obsessed with willow basket toys and now this big apple stick too.

The Big Apple came as a two-in-one. My chinchillas used it as a hurdle in addition to a chew toy. I located it an inch or so above a shelf the width of their Critter Nation. They could use the ramp to go around the log but preferred to hop over it like a hurdle on their way to their wheel. They spin regularly, so talk about safe, high-level enrichment! Furthermore, I trusted The Big Apple with their teeth and digestive systems. I did not feel or see any staples or nails as I have with wood products for small animals from Amazon. Staples and nails are dangerous if they get in their mouths and tear up their digestive tracts if swallowed. The Big Apple was solid, real wood, which I saw after my boys chewed its bark. Not a speck remained after four nights. Talk about another means of safe, high-level enrichment! In the morning, my older chinchilla kept hopping over it like he was telling me it needed changing. I cannot speak enough about the quality. My chinchillas have a log they sit on. It was not until I gave them The Big Apple that they considered chewing a log. A fake from Walmart versus a quality product from Little Pals? My boys know where to send me!

These little steps are the best wooden steps i have purchased! Each step is the best quality! I especially love the size of the washer and screw which make each step securely attach to the cage. I have purchased 15 of these amazing little steps!!

Everything in my order was top-notch. Our chinchilla, Luna May, has devoured every chew toy given to her. I placed the “Big Apple” stick by her wooden chair, and it is funny to see her sit and chew on it. My chinchilla loves this! Easy to install and its very sturdy, he lvoes to chew and jump on it! Very durable, keeps him busy and adds to his cage! HIGHLY RECCOMEND!!
