The overlooked seal is awesome! In my years of being a chinchilla mom, I purchased a lot of apple sticks from various manufacturers, and no bag contained a seal, not even a twisty tie. The bags would flop open without cares in the world. Bark does not go bad. Oh, but I beg to differ, and my chinchillas agree. My older chinchilla turned down one of his favorite treats for an Apple "Katana" Stick. Clearly, those stick manufacturers were not taking their jobs seriously. Little Pals is different. As long as you remember to close the seal, it is airtight to guarantee and preserve freshness.

Last night my chinchillas entered a whole new world of apple sticks. I was collecting bags of Apple "Katanas" Sticks because my boys had quite a few bundles left. Those were safe, but lately, I have come to question apple sticks not made in America. Those were not cheap, either; therefore, I made them finish those before bringing out the high-quality stuff. When I opened a bag of Apple "Katanas" Sticks, the first thing I noticed was the apple smell. So strong and fresh. These sticks were going to be good! I put five in my hand and presented my palm to my younger chinchilla. He actually took the stick out of my hand. A new gesture for him! It was more like an attack on the Katana. He chewed it as if it was corn on the cob. That gave him a spurt of high-quality enrichment. On a scale out of 5 with 1 being the most lethargic and 5 being the least lethargic, the energy level of my chinchillas bounced from a 2 (on these sticks are not very tasty, but I guess I will eat them because I do not have anything else) to a 5 (on Apple "Katanas" Sticks. It was fun and encouraging to see that high-quality enrichment!
These are the only sticks Enzo will eat now. I like the fact that we know exactly what ingredients are in these.
